Building a Market-Ready Brand
Cliff Original is a young grooming and styling brand that focuses on healthier options for hair care, skincare, and beard care. We first engaged Cliff Original back in 2014. At that time, founder, Jared Friesner had been hustling for a year to expand his product line and increase exposure. The reaction from the market was overwhelmingly positive, but there was a lot to be done and he needed support.
Begin at the start
If Cliff Original was going to grow and compete in the market it needed a strong sense of self and a solid foundation for marketing. Jared created Cliff Original as an homage of sorts to his Grandpa Cliff so it was extra important for us to get this right.
We began by taking Cliff Original through our Brand Clarity process to determine the Positioning Platform, Brand Personality Traits, and Voice/Tone. The final deliverable was a go-forward Brand Book containing this information plus audience research, messaging samples and more.
Once complete we used the Brand Book as a means to evaluate the current visual assets and ultimately redesigned parts of the identity, completely redesigned the packaging and launched a brand new website. We have been the dedicated marketing and creative team for Cliff Original ever since.
